Acorn slippers are known for their continuing commitment to the ideals of founder David Quinn, who began the company in 1976. His original goal was to recreate his memories of family ski vacations spent padding around the cabin in classic slippers with attached socks when he wasn't enjoying the slopes. This search for old-time comfort led him to work with local shoemakers and merchants to produce an initial set of 22 pairs of unique slippers. Since those humble beginnings, Acorn has incorporated high quality construction and innovative designs to provide an unsurpassed standard of comfort.
In 1982, NASA astronauts chose Acorn Slipper Socks as footwear for their space shuttle missions, and Quinn was quick to make the most of the high-visibility placement, transforming Acorn from a cottage industry to a profitable national enterprise. Since then, astronauts have continued to wear Acorn Slipper Socks on shuttle missions, and a pair remains on permanent exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution, having no doubt inspired their brand tagline: "Comfort on Earth."
Although it remains true to that same classic comfort, Acorn is also responsive to the latest lifestyle influences. Each collection maintains elements of the original slipper socks, but also provides new features and fashions to match today's expectations of function and design. I wear flip flops during the day, but they are too COLD - decided to try spa flip flops and OH! THESE ARE SO COMFY!!!!!!!!!!! Toes get cold so I switch to my booties slippers, but I love these Acorns!!
